Recently, i decided to upgrade to an i7 system with a 5870 or 5850(depending on my cash), but then my brother upgraded his system, so he gave me his intel core 2 quad q6700 until i got my new pc, i overclocked it to 3.5Ghz and i have noticed a huge performance increase(from my core 2 duo e8400, even at 4Ghz), so im going to buy it off him and just get new vga card and RAM, so im going to get a 5870 or 5850 (depending on cash again), so will the new graphics card bottleneck my cpu? Thanks.

You should be fine running a q6700 @3.5 and a 5870/50.

I'm running a Q9550 @ 3.8 but with a lowly 4870 512mb (785/1120mhz) on a 1920x1200 rez.
Was debating whether or not to grab a 5870, but I think I'm going to wait because my current setup plays everything pretty; just missing dx11.

I am running a Q6600 @ 3.6 and a 5870 @ 930/1275, MY 3D Mark Vantage scores are as follows:

CPU Score: 12549
GPU Score: 18354
Total Score: P16452

On top of that, i have seen no difference with this video card in an i5 750 @ 3.33 rig at all, so, to answer your question, no, there will be no bottleneck. Maybe an i5 750 or i7 920 will utilize the 5870 a little more efficiently, but in no way shape or form is there a bottleneck.

I also noticed a HUGE difference between my E8400 @ 4.0 & Q6600 @ 3.6... the Q6600 @ 3.6 absolutely smokes it!

Hands down, the Q6600/6700/QX6800 series CPU's might be the champion of ALL intel CPU's ever made, at least in my experience...
