Are these upgrades worth it?

I'm currently using a relatively old computer for gaming that I have upgraded a few times, and a friend is offering to sell me a radeon hd 5770 and core 2 duo e7500 @ 2.9Ghz for around $50 (he no longer needs them)

Currently, I have:
DP965LT Motherboard (Intel)
core 2 duo e6600 @ 2.4Ghz
radeon HD 4770 (overclocked using catalyst control center)
4GB DDR2 RAM @ 800mhz

I'm also getting 2 case fans (in addition to the 2 I already have), so overclocking might be an option.

So, will I see a noticeable bump in framerates (In games like SC2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2) one or both of those upgrades?

I think you already know this, but the GPU will definitely be the more important upgrade when it comes to framerates.

The CPU is also a small upgrade over your current one and you may see load/encoding times etc decrease slightly

Even so, just buying the card for that price would be a good deal and nice price/performance..

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

The funny thing here is that ur current mobo DON'T support the e7500.

The 5770 can give u more FPS but don't wait run Crisys to high details because with ur specs isn't posible.
