No display on laptop screen

I have an IBM ThinkPad t20, and I have to use my desktop screen with svga cable to see display, will not display on laptop screen.Can anyone tell me how to fix this.

You've tried the crt/lcd function button and display only shows up on crt?
Then it's the cable to your screen, or a bad screen.

press Fn+F7 a few times. othersie its a faulty screen or bad connection/wiring

My screen was working before I reinstalled Windows XP, and I don't know what you mean by crt/lcd function button.

Ok I pressed FN+F7 and its displaying but its very fant I can hardly see it

ok then ur backlight is shot. try pressing those buttons some more.

Hey, but sorry to tell you but your LCD Invertor needs to be replaced. Easy job and not expensive if you do it your self
This is what you need:

Around £15 for the part. It is held under the plastic at the bottom of the Laptop screen. 2 or 3 wire plugs hold it in.

How do I turn the backlite back on, and it was working befor I reinstalled Windows

well if its broken theres nothing that can be done short of replacing the screen. but try FN+HOME (top right)

Hey, see my previous post... Sounds like the Invertor is shot.... not the screen. You don't need to replace the screen if the invertor is bust.

The invertor converts the battery voltage into the high power voltage needed to power the backlight. It's usually a capacitor that has blown on the invertor circuit board. At £15 for a new LCD Invertor it is a cheap fix
