A8m2n-la ad5000odj22gi not booting

Hello,
I have an HP Pavilion a1600n with an Asus A8M2N-LA motherboard. I want to upgrade to a amd athlon x2 5000 ad5000odj22gi (this is a special chip, 45nm, like a phenom with 2 cores disabled.) Nothing happens when I plug it in and boot. Not sure if it incompatible, or bad cpu.

It probably does not support that CPU only the older ones http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c00757531#N94 being a true AM2 board.
That CPU is AM2+

There is alot of information out there, with wikipedia and other sources, but I didn't seem to get a clear idea regarding backward compatibility. I don't even think AMD has a page for this CPU on their website. Thanks!
