My windows 7 64 only detects 4gb ddr3 ram i have 8gb ddr3 ram installed

my windows 7 64 only detects 4gb ddr3 ram i have 8gb ddr3 ram installed i have a msi p55 gd55 mobo a i5 750 4890 oced myself a 550 watt psu a 1t 7200 rpm drive in ah haf 922 what is the problem my is windows only saying i have 4gb ddr3 ram when i install 8gb?

Can you try putting each ram stick in seperately? if they all detect properly individually, it may be a mobo problem.

You must've installed both the RAM Modules into similar color slots.....
You need to populate slot 1 and slot 2 Closest to the Processor is DIMM2(Blue) and DIMM1 (Black) is the one next to DIMM2. This is if you have 2 Modules each of 4GB...
If you have 4 Modules each of 2GB then then you're going to have to cycle all the RAM to check which 2 Modules are not working

i found out which didnt work how do i fix it

Is the slot bad or the RAM Module?, either way which ever one is bad, you'll have to get a replacement.Are they still under the warranty period? if they are , then just RMA it.
