Crossfire x8 x8 and x16 x16. Will I see much difference in video card performance in my 2 rigs? Same video cards, just the slot speed is different.

rig 1- Crossfire PCI slots run at x8 x8
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB DDR3 1600
MSI P55-GD65 Intel P55 Core i5/i7 Socket 1156 Motherboard
INTEL BX80605I7860 Core i7 2800 MHz Socket 1156 4 x 256KB Desktop Processor
MSI R4770 CYCLONE Radeon HD 4770 512MB GDDR5 PCI Express x16 (2.0v) Video Card

rig 2- Crossfire PCI slots run at x16 x16
MSI 790FX-GD70 AM3 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard
OCZ OCZ3OB1600LV4GK 8GB (DDR3-1600)
AMD HDX925WFGIBOX Phenom II X4 2.80 GHz AM3 4 x 512KB Desktop Processor
MSI R4770 CYCLONE Radeon HD 4770 512MB GDDR5 PCI Express x16 (2.0v) Video Card

Both rigs run Windows7 64bit OS.

Thanks,
Toad

Here is a chart from the 5850's review, its a fairly minor performance hit between 16x/16x and 8x/8x

crossfire and SLI have diminishing returns once you start adding a third and fourth card, rather than doing quad fire(which isnt possible without using x2 models) you would be better off purchasing a 5850 or a 5870 which will perform significantly better than 2 4770s in CF

Thanks all!

I also ordered two SAPPHIRE 100283-2L Radeon HD 5770 21163-10 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express x16 (2.0v) Video Card

I am going to do eyefinity 3 monitors. I know this isn't the highest quality card out there. I was gonna do dual crossfire. Which rig should I put it in or does it matter?

I also ordered Sapphires active displayport adapter.
