Why cant i run quake 4 at full?

now i have an Intel i7 920 un-overclocked at 2.67. 4gb of ram and an Nvidia Geforce 7800 OC . now i know the Video card is old but for quake 4 it should be just fine . when i put everything max and use 1280X 720 it slows down the FPS is there anything i can do to fix it or need a new GC???

Dual 7900GT's couldn't cope with Quake 4 being fully maxed out, high yes but max no and that was at 12 x 10.

I believe maxed out quake 4 uses uncompressed textures which means you really need video ram to make it work. the max ram i've seen on a 7800 is 256MB. I think you need at least 512MB or even a GB on top of a decent gpu.

Good point, I'd forgotten about that and my 7900's were 256MB's obviously as I don't think they did 512MB GT's.
