Hi, have you ever took a look at that old cardboard box of parts and thought about throwing it away?
DON'T! you can build a NAS server out of it (network attached storage)
likely you have an old P4 or P3 or Athlon 64 ect...

you may think this is going to be slow but running small OS like FreeNas these machines will run pritie fast!

in my case i will be using an old gateway P4 desktop
i will be using IDE HDDs because i don't have a need for raid and don't have the money for a raid card!
and i will use FreeNas it is a free NAS server OS that can be managed from an internet browser of any other computer ( enter the IP address)
and i will be using an energy efficant PSU (the server will be on 24/7)

i will update information as i start the process
