Dell motherboard v Intel Mobo

Hello,
I have a Dell dimension 4500. Dell's specs says that 1GB is the max it can use. Intel's specs for the mobo 845EPT2 which i have in the dell says it can take 2Gb memory. Who is correct ?

Dell. But it could be 1 gb per ram slot. Read it carefully. Each board has different specs.

No,Dell says 512 per slot and Intel says 1GB per slot, Crucial's memory tool says 1GB per slot, but before i upgraded my CPU from 1500Ghz to 2.66Ghz Crucial says it was 512 per slot.
Mabe cos i upgraded to 2.66Ghz it now can take 2GB ??
