HD5770 FPS drop significantly when switching applications

Hi, I just bought a HD5770 (Diamond). Normally I have 40~50 FPS at 1920x1200 resolution and everything is high. However, when I switch to windows and switch back to the game again, my FPS drop down to 10FPS!!! What's going on? How to deal with it? My previous nvidia9800gt never has this problem. Dam I hate ATI now! Can anyone give a hint? My driver and control center are all the newest version (2010.0302.2233.40412).

anyone have a idea? I found that after I switch to windows, I have to change my 3D settings, then the FPS won't drop after I switch back to the game. Looks like it's driver/control center related problem.

well...its bound to be reverting to 2D clocks how to fix this???? dont jump back and forth...jk what drivers ?10.2 ?

10.3 for xp64. It's from the ATI official driver not the diamond. My operating systemis xp64. I hate this card so bad. My old GF9800gt have zero problem on application switching. Thoughts?

you should really only be using 10.3 for vista/7
