More Ram
Last response: in Memory
I have an old dell 8200 1.9g with 512mb of 800-40. If I add another 512 of 800-45 will it work? Do I need to update bios?

Best guess (since I can't find the manual) is that if it has another slot it will take another stick.
Is this a laptop or desktop? Inspiron or Dimension.
What OS are you running that survives on 0.5 GB?

I have succeeded with mix-and-match, but there are many documented problems. Oh, is this ECC memory? One thing that will never match is mixing ECC and non-ECC.
