Question about Installing SSD

Hi guys,

I'm building my first ever computer. I have purchased a Corsair 90 GB Force GT Series SATA III and a Gigabyte GA-A75M-D2H mobo. And my question is: do you have to go into the BIOS to set SATA control mode to AHCI before installing Windows 7? I'm assuming that the default setting is IDE since HDD is still the most common storage out there.

Thank you!

Yes, you do. If you try to change SATA modes after Windows installation, more likely than not you will get a BSOD. Then you would have to perform a Windows Registry edit to resolve the issue.
  2. Agree with the above. Set the SATA operation mode in BIOS to AHCI then install Win7 to the SSD afterwards.
