I've bought a HP built PC about a year ago and I wanted to upgrade my E2220 to a Q8400. Since my E2220 seems to be bottle necking my GPU and effecting my gameplay.
Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:

*
Intel Core 2 Quad (Y) Q9xxxx
*
Intel Core 2 Duo (W) E8xxx
*
Intel Core 2 Quad (K) up to Q6600
*
Core 2 Duo E6x00 (C) up to E6700
*
Core 2 Duo E4x00 (C) up to E4400

But I don't see anything about the Intel Core 2 Quad (Y) Q8xxxx series. If it supports the Q9xxxx series it should suppor the Q8xxxx right? Because right now I can only afford a CPU and not a new motherboard.

Well, since it supports Q9xxx processors then I see no reason for not supporting Q8xxx processors. After all, Q8xxx are similar to Q9xxx but with less cache memory.

So, most likely your motherboard will support Q8400.

I tried to search for the motherboard on ASUS website and couldn't find it either. But, when I checked my motherboard specs on the HP website it states it as a ASUS IPIBL-LB Intel G33 Chipset.
