If going with AM3, I would look at the ASRock 870 Extreme 3 for price to performance | features.

if its am2+ il defo go with my 1 GIGABYTE GA-M720-US3. Paid £50 brand new 4 it and it never failed me holds up to 16gig of ram takes my am3 phenom processor, quick reliable board, to be honest there a bargain for what it can take.
