Hi all,

My current hardware -

Graphic card - XFX 8800GT 512MB
CPU - AMD X2 4800+ (dual core @2.4Ghz)
Ram - DDR2 1GB x 2
MOBO - Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe
HDD - 1TB x 1, 160GB x 2 (all seagate)
Monitor - LG M237WA

Desired Resolution for gaming - 1920x1080

I recently purchase this new 23" monitor but find that I can no longer run new games at its native resolution of 1920x1080 at high settings configurable so I want to upgrade my graphics capabilities with the cheapest option.

The easiest and cheapest, according to me, is to buy a new 8800GT 512 MB and setup SLI.

What I am concerned about is, will I get enough benefit from SLI considering my somewhat 'old' hardware? or will the SLI will choke on it(bottleneck due to other components) and wont be worthwhile?

Any other options to upgrade my graphics I am missing, other then a complete system overhaul, which is not permitted by my budget.

Help please. Any comments will be useful.

The cpu is a weak link but I would go ahead having two 9800GTs my self which are nothing more than 1GB editions of the 8800gt. They perform very well and will hold up to almost any game but settings you got to be picky.

Thanks that gives me confidence. but what do you mean by picky settings? Do you mean in-game such that I reduce CPU intensive settings or do you mean in general to setting up SLI?

In game settings, I would overclock the cpu if it isn't already. I am pushing my crummy 3800x2+ to 2.4ghz till my x3 comes in later this week. It bottle necks every thing but my 6800gt   but any way at least my 3870 doesn't use that much power.
