What to do its urgent?

umm guys my 8800 gts 320 mb got a probllem, its out of warranty now and the engineer is saying it cant be repaired.

now if i have to buy a new card what do u suggest ? should it be 5850 or nvidia 200 series. i think 200 series is off the shelves. but still approx theres aroun 40$ dif in 275 gtx and 5850 in my currency.

pleae tell me what u think and also explain how to clean my system of nvidia traces if i buy a ati card?


will 5850 be ok to run on CM 600w extreme psu?

5850 will be fine on that PSU. The 5850 is a stronger card than a 275. I am not sure which card is more expensive from what you are saying, but even at $40 dollars more, a 5850 would probably still be the better purchase.

As for removing nvidia drivers:

yes the 5850 is costlier. i am planning to go fo xfx, does xfx have dirt 2 with it?

iwas initially skeptical in buying 5000 series coz 6000 series are cmng in the second half and thn my new cards would be labelled EOL.

the same thing happened when i bought 8800 gts 320 , i purchased in april and in sep it was phased out.

i was also considering zotac 260 216 sonic , coz thats also way better thn 8800.

but 200 series is even rarer than ddr 1 now.
so should try and find a cheap solution for now and thn get 6000 seies later in q4?

I love Nvidia but ATI has been putting out some great cards what I say it comes down to is do you want DX11 or better Physics. The 275 has a dedicated physics board on it but you could prob get two 9800s or gts250s for the same price or less if u have an sli board and that would get you really nice performance, you would just have to look for one that doesnt suck power like my oc 9800gtx+ that needs 2 6 pin connectors.

a pair of these would be good on 600 watts but one would suck

The EOL thing is a never ending circle and if you need a card now with a view to maybe selling it when the 6 series is out then a 5850 would be the ideal card in my opinion.
Coming from the card you have now it would be a good step up in performance and will certainly have a good resale value if you decide you need a 6 series card when it comes out.

Whats the rest of the system like by the way ? Wouldn't want to go overboard now would we.

ya i have a crt , after i sort this card issue ill get benq 2220 hd or maybe even dell 2209 wa ips panel. asus designo 23 incher is cool too.

which one will you suggest.


and yes my original system was e6300 msi p965 neo -f, corsair value select 667 ddr2 2gb, but in jan when my psu broke down the guy who came to check ran off wth my mobo proc and ram.

so currently my combo is the compensation by the assebler for the theft, my psu is repaired and the gpu as he says cant be repaired , and warrnty ended on feb and nvidia dsnt give warranty for burnt or physical damg.

so i think what i dreaded wll be reality now , buy a new card. mann if only my card had died 6 nths later hmf.

well i have a p4 system wrapped up somewhr its got 1 gig ddr and a tnt2 gpu , u know how to use it or revive it?

and yeah my current rig is ina crappy nav tech cabinet, i think ill switch cabbies or buy a cm maybe.

the p4 is ina matrix cabbinet, but isa dial up modem removble?

I have a BenQ 2222HDL and i am very happy with it as its full 1080p but at 22" 21.5 actual screen size the dot pitch is tighter so a slightly sharper picture (smaller dots/pixels)

actually iam an animation field so i find ips more suitanble. apple has 1100$ ipas so i found dell a sweat deal at 300$. alienware optiplex 23.5 is awesome at 500$ .

any one has suggestions on what to do wth my older p4 system.?
