Easy, you have your desktop and server processors. For desktop processors, the answer is simple, the faster the processor, the faster you can do things. I am guessing that this is for a class. So I will leave some for the imagination.

Be careful, there are two ways to measure "speed"

1: How "fast" a processer runs (measured in Hz)
2: How many CPU instructions the CPU can perform in a single clock cycle (Instructions per Cycle)

A CPU that can handle more instructions per clock can be faster then a higher clocked CPU (see the whole Athlon v Pentium debate).
