My mom has a dell inpirion 531s computer with these specs. The motherboard is fried I believe. I have tried a different power supply and have no power and the power switch works. So I was wondering what motherboard would I be able to replace it with? I have no clue on selecting motherbards.
1 DJ301 Kit,Mouse,Universal Serial Bus,2BTN,Optical,Lead Free Black
1 HX872 Assembly,Compact Disk Read Write/Digital Video Disk Drive48X,Half Height,BARE,PBDS
1 DJ331 Keyboard,104,Universal Serial Bus,United States,Entry Liteon,Black
Though I must ask, how did you get these "specs"? For the most part, they provide no relevant information and just spout gibberish with random brand names and 4-letter words. This gave me everything I needed to know, albeit stated in a strange form:
1 TM578 Processor,X2,3800,2.0,512K,2C 65W,F2
Processor: Athlon 64x2 3800+ AM2
But other stuff makes little sense, albeit you can see some of it can be translated to something that makes sense:
2 WM551 Dual In-line Memory Module 512,667M,64X64,8,240,1RX8
2 sticks of DDR2-RAM 667MHz , 512MB each
Edit: My google searches reveal that the 5-letter code at the beginning of each is a dell exclusive part number for each component or peripheral in the computer. I've given up trying to figure out which one is your motherboard. Nonetheless my motherboard recommendation will be well-suited.
Open up the case and look for a name and model number on it. Since it is a dell, chances are the connections are proprietary unless for AMD based systems they are more like an Emachines and use the same kind of connectors for the front panel as you would find in a DIY build.
