Hi there,

I was wondering, which is better, the GeForce 9600GT or the GeForce GT240?

My personal opinion is, the 9600GT is better but I want to hear other people's opinions and reasons

The 9600GT was released in begining of 2008 and the GT240 was released end of 2009 which makes the GT240 very new on the market. The GT240 costs basically the same as the 9600GT, just slightly more expensive. When I look at the exact specs of these cards, the 9600GT seems better in almost every way, in the begining I thought the GT240 would be better since its about the same price but a lot newer on the market, but like I said, when I look at the specs it doesn't show that its better then the 9600GT

For example, check on this Graphics card comparison website, the specs of these two cards are compared...what are your opinions?

The only thing about the GT240 that I can see that might be better is the thing that says "FLOPS" what is that? Also that the GT240 uses less watts, it seems to use about 70W where the 9600GT uses about 95W, other then that the 9600GT seems better in every way from what I can see

The GT240 runs on 128bit, unlike the 9600GT which runs on 256bit =/

GT 240 will perform better.

GT 230 is equal to 9600GSO 768mb or so. GT 240 almost equal to 9800GT

You guys really think the GeForce GT240 will perform better, even though it has 128bit and the 9600GT has 256bit?

Also if the GT240 is almost equal to the 9800GT, then its actually worse than the 9600GT because I've seen the 9600GT outperform the 9800GT :(  Its sad I know, I was shocked when I saw it because I always thought the 9800GT was better then the 9600GT til a friend proved me wrong on it, which is why I decided on the 9600GT rather then the 9800GT

GT240 DDR5 Will perform better, dd3 won't.

From what I saw, there is two GT240's, only difference between the two is that the one is DDR5 and the other DDR3. However both of the GT240's can't seem to match the 9600GT which is cheaper in price.

I guess the reason for GT240's price is because it was released end of last year, its still new on the market, it will soon drastically drop in price :)

The 9600GT and GT240 DDR5 are pretty comparable. They trade punches depending on the game. The GT240 DDR3 is Poo, don't even look at it.

However, if you are looking at either of these two cards the 5670 and 4850 are both in the same price range and BOTH outperform either card. I wouldn't choose either of the 2 cards listed.

Look at this deal, 4850 for $95 + free ship and $15MIR making it $80.

If you don't have the power supply to run a 4850 the 5670 is the next best option unless there is something specific with nvidia that you need.
