This is for my dad, It's based on a preconfigured custom build, but parts can be swapped in out freely (as long as you don't swap out the entire system to get by without an assembly cost)
APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Within the next month
BUDGET RANGE: About $1500 Aussie +/- ~$100
SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, Internet and word processing etc are all about equally important.
PARTS NOT REQUIRED: ..anything that you don't usually put in a computer like this (e.g. a $300 sound card or a unicorn)
PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: none, I'm getting them from a local brick'n'mortar shop
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Australia
PARTS PREFERENCES: none
OVERCLOCKING: Maybe (If I can convince him), but most likely not
SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe in future
MONITOR RESOLUTION: preferably 1920x1080, but similar size is fine
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Bear in mind that I'm buying from a brick'n'mortar shop in Aussie
So far, the build is:
Intel i5 750
m/b unknown (he has a requirement for it regarding networking with wireless and non-wireless. I'll keep you posted)
4GB Kingston 1333 C9
1TB Seagate SATA 2
graphics to be decided, atm I've told him to swap it for at least the Gigabyte 250OC, but I'm basically telling him what to get as I find out what he needs
SATA DVD Burner (brand isn't listed, but knowing the place, it's not going to be some generic junk)
Asus wireless card
Cooler Master 690 with included 500W PSU, but I should be able to get him to change it to support the graphics etc
With monitor,speakers, mouse and k/b:
Asus 24" VW246H
Microsoft WD 400 (desktop, includes k/b + mouse)
Logitech Z-323
I don't think he's too concerned about a relatively low k/b and mouse and he doesn't want to spend too much on the sound either
Brands/companies for speakers are limited to Logitech, with a limited Altec Lansing and Creative range
Brands/companies for k/b and mouse are pretty much logitech and microsoft
Thanks in advance
