Right, Nv has made it"s new Fermi chips, THIS IS NOT A FERMI DEBATE THREAD!

This is a thread for people considering Fermi in a new build, and are Looking fo the optimal Case and power supply.

Bob will now inform you of what Case and Power Supplys are good for Fermi.

(Nv made thier own list, but thier choices are highly suspect)

Cases: 1. Choice for Fermi:

This si one of the best Cases avviable for Fermi.

It also comes with a GTX 480 bundle Discount.

It is good, but pricey:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite...

Number 2 Choice:

This should handle Fermi fine.

It is very good, and not as expesnive as the number 1 choice, While being a close matchup.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

This is choice number 3:

it is somewaht cheaper than it"s big brother the haf-932, and almost as good;

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Power Supplys

Single Gtx/470/480:

This is a bit of an overkill, But it is cheap for its quality, So you won"t save much by getting a lower quality one, and It wil take 2 cards fine if you SLi later.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Fermi SLI:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

This is the same PSu, Works good for 2.

Fermi Tri SLI:

There are 2 contenders here:

For stock settings on CPu and Cards:

The TX-950 that i recomended for 2 and single Fermis should handle it.

If you want to OC

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

4 cards:

The 1250W Enermax I recomended for 3 cards and an Sli can also handle 4 Fermis.

No, Neither of those are cut up to HAF-922 stuff.

I would not feel safe putting 3 GTX 480s in either of those.

What do you think about the k-62 and 2 Fermis, it comes with 4 fans, 3 140mm standard and has excellent airflow.

Good, But Not HAF922 good, wich is the same price.

Yeah, but it lacks a sufficient fan count and there are 6 fans included with the Tempest EVO. Those six fans can push more than the 3 (even though 2 are 200mm, I think the 6 120's would push more air) on the HAF 922.

I doubt the 950TX would handle a Tri-SLI 480, as it consumes 1008W in a review..
http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-480-3way-sli-...

Factoring in the efficiency, you need at least a 1200W PSU for Tri-SLI and a 1500W for Quad-SLI.

Dude, the Tx-950 can utput more than 950W.

And the same goes to the 1250W Enermax.

And those were put in an OC'd build no?

i said 950W with CPu at stock.

Fortress Case is interesting but kinda light on cfm throughput.

932 is a great choice as is Antec 1200.....I'd try twin 480's in a 922 not 3. The 1200's two optional case fans are as if they expected the 480 when they designed it.

I wouldn't use multiple GFX cards and overclock with a TX series.....HX yes, TX no.

I think the only difference between the HX and the TX is one being modular while the other not.. Is there something more to it??

Not anymore, But there used to be.

Untill Corsai revised it with the TX-950, the TX seris were worse in evry imaginable catergorie.

What about "The (CoolerMaster?) Scout" ?

I'm sure the Antec LAnBoy Air will pass.

All cases people have metionedc are good, but not better then HAF-932.

Why settle for second best at the same price?

I kinda like the DARK FLEET ... more of a "designer-boutique"/pricey option, tho.

There should be a great big giant flaming yellow yield sign at the front of this thread that states to take everything with a grain of salt.

Doubt any of us are likely to "TRY-FIRE" with FERMI, any time soon, anyway.

If you DO ... better get a lot of opinions from a lot of forums, first ... duh.
