I have a BFG GTS 250 1gb with a little bit of a overclock and it runs great with my 1680x1080 monitor.

I play Fallout 3, Oblivion, Mass Effect 2, Crysis, Just Cause 2, and others and they run great.

Phenom x4
6gb ram

I have used 3xSamsung 2 broke after about 3years of use (22"WS & 19") 1 is still going after almost 8 years (17"samtron) Dell 20" WS still going after 5 years and LG " 23" 1080P only 6-7 months old. Quality wise I will have to say that the DELL is the best one, looking at everything including stand.

I don't see any reason to go any lower than 1680. However, I'd recommend the 1920 for future proofing. You can still select a lower full screen resolution back down to 1680 should you choose to without too much artifacting. But you can't watch full 1080p on the 1680.

Besides, when you update that machine, you'd be kicking yourself later if you went 1680. Future proofing FTW.

Thats a good point Thadius856- you can play on a lower res on an HD monitor, but can't raise the res on a lower resolution monitor.
Just know that a GTS250 is best suited to 1680x1050, and game at that even if you get a 1920x1080 display.

+1 Thadius856. Don't go cheap when buying a monitor. People usually upgrade video cards several times before they upgrade the monitor. You might be in the same situation. Go big now and enjoy it for a much longer time.
