Hi to everyone,

I'm planning to change my motherboard and move to i7 cpu. I need a motherboard that supports 12 GB of RAM, and with two PCI express 16x (I have two video card) and one pci express 1x (for my RAID card)

Any suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

I do not have direct experience. I am running an i5. I chose the board I did because I needed an extra PCI-E 4x for my raid card. I have an Asus P7P55D Deluxe http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=yZD4yFdLw1l3gZ35&templete=2 .

So I'm going to wander over to Asus and see if I can find you something similar with socket 1366. How about these specs
Memory 6 x DIMM, Max. 24 GB, DDR3 2000(O.C.)*/1866(O.C.)*/1800(O.C.)*/1600(O.C.)/1333*/1066 Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory
Triple channel memory architecture
Supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)
*Hyper DIMM support is subject to the physical characteristics of individual CPUs.
**Refer to www.asus.com or this user manual for the Memory QVL(Qualified Vendors Lidts).
Expansion Slots 3 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (at x16/x16/x1 or x16/x8/x8 mode)
1 x PCIe x4
2 x PCI

On this board: http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=1H6537GW0fPVHNhO&templete=2 , the Asus P6TD Deluxe.
More than you actually need.

Asus always has been for me. You may be able to find people with experience with several socket 1366 boards who could find you a cheaper one or one that overclocks 5 percent better, but as a first guess this should be pretty solid.

I'm not interested in overclocking, I use PC 12 hours a day for working and I need stability of the system :), actually I have an ASUS motherboard and I'm very happy of it (P5Q Pro turbo), so I'd like to have another asus :).

Are you looking for Previous Generation Intel Core i7 LGA1156 or FCLGA1366 or 2nd Generation Intel Core i7 LGA1155 (a.k.a. Sandy Bridge)?

Are we talking the 1155 i7 like the 2600k, the 1156 i7 like the 8xx series or the 1366 i7 like the 9xx series ?

With Sandy Bridge, the Asus Revolution WS MoBo (1155) that, to my knowledge as yet, provides twin PCI-E lanes at x16 x16
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131694&Tpk=1155%20motherboard
Core i7 (1155)
x16 x16 PCI-E with the NF200 chipset
32 GB RAM
4 SATA III Ports / 4 SATA II ports
2 USB 3 / 14 USB 2
2 x Intel Gigabit Ethernet
Realtek 8 channel audio

With 1366, the upper end is the Asus Rampage 3 Extreme
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131642
Core i7 (LGA1366)
24 GB RAM
x16 x16 PCI-E
2 SATA III Ports / 7 SATA II ports
2 USB 3 / 7 USB 2
Intel Gigabit Ethernet
Realtek 8 channel audio

With 1156, Asus Maximus Formula and the other, I think you are limited to 16GB
