5850 bottleneck

Before i order one i want to make sure i should still see a good advantage on my PC. kinda worried that I'm going to run into a bottleneck issue.
I'm thinking of getting a 5850 to replace my 8800gts card on a asus p5n32-e sli plus motherboard. i am planing on building a new i7 rig in about 12 months. i want to upgrade a bit on this PC to hold me over until then. running a e6600 cpu in it atm. really need more fps currently on a monitor to 1920x1200 res i am kinda expecting from the marks i have seen about a 3x performance gain from what im running now? or will my cpu hold me back to much?

More about 5850 bottleneck
  1. CPU will hold you back some definitely.
  2. I say get it. You'll have it in the future, and it's not fully usable anyway, because it has the Direct X 11 that nobody is really using yet. It's a great card for Future proofing!
  3. Take a look at this http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/core-i3-gaming,review-31852.html Should give you a good idea if you follow the links within that article it should show you what to expect performance wise

    Mactronix :)
  4. Thank you.. that link really helped me allot. I am going to order me a 5850 to toss in this thing. then i will have the video card for my next system build. and should bring up my current system performance to hold me over for a year i hope.. ill let ya all know how it goes when i get my video card just ordered it so it should be here next week sometime
