A few years ago (back in 2007 I think), I purchased my first gaming PC from a "customize-it-yourself" kind of site. The PC has been working great for the past 3-4 years, but I've been looking to upgrade recently, since my current PC is starting to show its age. The problem is that the PC I'm looking to purchase is about $2k, and I only have about $1.5k going towards it right now.
Basically, I was thinking about just skimping out on the video card and purchasing that later, and getting everything else right now (yeah, I'm really impatient
). The card that I was planning on getting for this new PC would be that $500 580GTX card. In place of that 580GTX card though, I was thinking about just taking out the 8800GTS 512 card I have in my PC currently, and using that in my new PC, which would have an ASUS Rampage III Formula MB, until I can afford to get the 580GTX card.
I'm basically wondering if that would work. Would my 8800GTS 512 card work on that ASUS MB?
