I have a 32bit dell gx150 computer, I found my 160gig HD in a box and it has a Vista 64bit os on it. My question is, is there a way I can put that 160gig in my 32bit dell and format that whole 64bit HD in my dell 32bit computer?

Yes you can. The hard disk itself is unaffected by whether a system is 32 bit or 64 but if it were still to have a 64 bit system installed, it wouldn't fly in a 32 bit system.

Yes, there is a 64bit Vista install on it, I right clicked the hdd in My Computer after I installed it on the second connection and after I right clicked I clicked format, but it could not format the drive, then I clicked compress not knowing what I was doing, and now it does not show up under My Computer. I am not sure what to do now. It will work out eventually, but for now, no dice. Not sure how to fix after it got compressed. Any other input would be appreciated.

Try it again only this time in Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk Management where you'll probably find it listed as Disk 1 if your resident system disk is Disk 0.
