Unsupported CPUs on X58 chipset

I came across an i7-990x recently and plan to build a system with it. The problem is since they aren't officially available yet bios support is rare (even in the latest versions), and unlikely to be present in any motherboard I buy today.

Does the X58 chipset usually play nice with 'unsupported' cpus? Would I be able to boot into the OS to update the bios? Is this something that tends to vary more by bios used or manufacturer?

I'd hate to buy a new motherboard only to find out that it can't post with my cpu.

It should post since it is just a slight upgrade of the 980X.

Thanks, it recognized the i7-990x right out of the box, no need for a new bios
