The PLX Controller chip on the U3S6 effectively splits the bandwidth to the USB 3.0 NEC chip and the Marvel SATA 6g chip effectively giving each chip 1000 Gigabits of bandwidth. Each chip then uses the bandwidth for their two ports. So if I only use one USB 3.0 port and one SATA 3.0 port it should have full bandwidth but the card specs only say each port has 500 gigabits each and I want to know if the NEC and the Marvel chips get full bandwidth for one port or do the two chips divide the bandwidth in half for each port automatically if anyone has an answer to this question please let me know thanks.

Now the Asus U3S6 Marvell SATA 6g Controller running the WD 640GB SATA3.0 WD6402AAEX

Asus U3S6 Marvell SATA 6g Controller
Minimum Transfer rate 53.4 Mb\s
Maximum Transfer Rate 106.0Mb\s
Average Transfer Rate 86.4Mb\s
Burst Rate 1509.5 Mbs \ this is 105.1Mbs with Marvell Driver Catching off
Access time of 11.9ms

My WD 500 GIG black Sata 2 drive on an Intel ICH10R does a
Minimum Transfer Rate 59.2Mb\s
Maximum Transfer Rate of 115.1 Mb\s
Average Transfer Rate 95.4Mb\s
& Burst Rate of 127.2 Mb\s
Access Time 9.9 ms

Benchmark is from HD Tune 2.55 my best thought is that the speed deficiency is a driver problem on the U3S6 thought it would be better than this but oddly enough my computer seems to boot up faster? And WD say’s the 6g hard drive runs at a constant 126Mbs
