Free sound driver for windows xp no registration required

You posted this in the Windows XP forum. Do you need a sound driver for Windows XP or Windows 7? You can check the support section of the computer maker's web site for driver downloads. Why the "no registration" requirement? That part sounds a bit fishy.

No PC manufacturer will require a credit card for a simple driver and they remain the best and safest download site for their own drivers. Sound drivers are the most awkward problem to fix because they are normally found on motherboard drivers CDs but they get lost as soon as the computer is settled under the desk. The problem is sometimes solved by Realtek High Definition Audio software but another system might need an AC97 setup. None of these cost anything.
