using external monitor with docking station...

hello,

I've got an HP Pavillion 3340 running Windows XP Home...I have a 19"
LCD display that I would like to use. I plug the monitor into the
laptop, and after several 'Display Settings' modifications, I can use
the external instead of the laptop screen. However, when I unplug the
monitor, and re-plug it in, I have to re-do the steps to get
everything on the external again. Is there a way to make it so that
the desktop automatically goes to the external once it's plugged in?
I don't want dual monitors, just the external.

If not, is there a macro program that can be programmed with mouse
clicks?
