I have an old HP 8100DN printer, and I recently built an i5 system with the Gigabyte P55-UD4P motherboard (much thanks to those in the Tom's community who helped me out).

I'd like to be able to connect my HP Laserjet 8100DN to my new pc, but the motherboard did not ship with an LPT port cable, so I need to find some sort of solution.

One idea is to order the LPT port cable and then connect the parallel cable that came with the printer. That would be the easy solution. Does anyone know where to find the LPT port cable for the P55-UD4P?

Or. alternatively, the motherboard does have 2 Ethernet ports, and the printer supposedly has an HP Jetdirect 600N Print Server already built in. Could I connect an ethernet cable directly from the 2nd port on my motherboard to the port on the printer? Would that work or would I have to connect via a router? Would strongly prefer to connect without router if possible.

Thanks,
