DVD drive SATA question

I have the following Sony DVD SATA drive. However, I only have SATA III cable. So could I use the SATA III cables with what seems to be a plain SATA drive? Also I only have SATA3 and SATA2 ports on my MOBO. Will it work if I connect the DVD drive to, say a SATA2 port? Thanks.

Yes, SATA 3 is backwards compatible to 3 G/s (SATA II).
Yes, you can use the SATA2 port and save the SATA3 ports for your SATA 3 SSDs...

Sorry for my stupidity, but drive SATA port<---SATA3 cable-->"SATA2 port". So will this connection work? Thanks.
