I have a HP MEDIA CENTRE 7475, ASUS P5LP-LE MB, PENTIUM 945D 3GHZ CPU, 2GB DDR2 RAM 4200, GEFORCE 8400GS GRAPHICS, 500GB SATA HITACHI HD, 2 X DVD WRITERS, 1X SYSTEM FAN, TV CAPTURE CARD, WIRELESS LAN 802.11BG, running win 7 64bit.

It had a 300w psu and I have upgraded it to a 850w Alpha power psu since upgrade the computer is taking forever to process any command given before with the 300w psu this was not a problem. Can anyone give advice as to what is possible problem and how I can solve it without putting the 300w psu back in please?

If you have a Voltmeter/Multimeter, you can check the voltages on the main rails of the PSU (12v, 5v, 3.3v), and see what kind of voltages you're getting.

It might be coincidence that the pc started having problems after the PSU was replaced. You need to make sure that the new PSU is the culprit.
I'd put the old one in again & run the PC. If it runs w/o any problems, then it's your new PSU which is the issue. If the pc is having problems even with the old one, then you have to look elsewhere for the source of the problem.
