So am looking to buy a 480 card from Nvidia (yey). But my store carries 4 brands all at the same price, so what is the actual difference, does anyone have any imput as to what card would be the best buy? As stated they all are priced the same, the dimensions are not the same though. For me the size of the card is irrelevant as I have lots of space :)

The candidates:

ASUS GeForce GTX 480 1536 PhysX CUDA
EVGA GeForce GTX 480 1536 PhysX CUDA
Gainward GeForce GTX 480 1536 PhysX
MSI Geforce GTX 480 1536 PhysX CuDA

(Oh and for sake of protocall Radeon is not a candidate due to me needing support for Nvidia 3D screen, that I allready got)

Any imput? If nothing else than maybe someone has experience with any of the companies from earlier models? (Long time since I brough a high end grafics card)

Quite surprising they're all the exact same price. The place where i pre-ordered mine saw discrepancies of up to £100 between brands. ASUS is probably the one to go for as they're the only brand to include a voltage tweaking tool for real time overclocking of the card. Bit of a moot point considering the card's already considerable heat output but for the same price as the rest is an extra feature over them.

i would get the evga for the lifetime warranty if registered within 30 days, given we don't know how the hot gpu will affect the lifespan

I'd go with eVGA

Also your 3D screen means nothing it's not proprietary to just nV it's a 120hz monitor, that's all.

I'd do the Asus w/ voltage tweaks.

Ill go with the one available cuz its hard to find a card at launch and they are all the same nVidia chip and the refrence cooler so if you find any GTX 480 TAKE IT

Thanks for the imput all, at least we are down to 2 cards now :)

It appears as I can choose any of the four, still same price for all of them.

So the bad joke: Kinda a bummer that I used a lot of money on a new screen and waited for the 480 when I could have used my old CRT 120 and a radeon then? At least now it looks modern and slick ;)

Do you know if this warranty is valid world wide? Do you have any further information on it? I'm situated in Norway so my base warranties are usually better then inn the US and EU. Still lifetime sounds nice, but unless I know for sure it is relevant I guess the ASUS have the lead with added features.

And then there is Gainward and Point of view.....so much to choose from! ;)

And they are all at the same price level...may differ $10 from store to store.

Does anyone have any experience with these companies from before hand as to say: if one has better cooling of their cards? I guess that would be great for the 480, especially if you do not intend to fidle with it in the start

Asus is actually the cheapest one, gigabyte the most expensive.

Would the mother borad brand be relevant at all? :) It's gigabyte

No, don't worry about trying to match all the component brands. At this point (beyond Warranty etc.) all of the cards should be the same as they have literally only had time to pack and ship the cards once they arrived from NVidia.
