Buying memory which isn't listen in the mobo's manual

I need to replace me 667mhz memory sticks with faster ones, and I wonder what will happen if I bought a memory stick which doesn't appear in the motherboard manual's Supported Memory list. Will it work?

Most likely it will work just as long it has similar spec ram on the list. The motherboard manufacturers do not have time to test all the ram on the market.
