The LGA1366 is for a high end PC. AMD board would be for a budget build. The new LGA1155 Intel would be for a gaming performance build right now even outperforms the LGA1366 unless it is matched with a six core CPU.
It will all be based on your budget but your description of use leads me to believe that a nice AMD build would be satisfying.
