Pci network adapter slow

My network adapter, GIGABYTE PCI G is insanely slow. I updated the drivers to what I believe to be the latest. The driver info in device manager has a date of 2009 though. My laptop is blazing fast sitting right next to the PC.
Should I just upgrade to a USB adapter?
