Unable to recover or delete corrupt folder on external drive

I have a problem with external hard drive. PC was shut down before the hard drive. Since then, one folder (that was open), expanded from 5 GM to 59 GB.

I am unable to find any of my video files in that folder. Even unable to delete the folder.

Please help.

Go to the drive manufacturers web site and see if there is a diagnostic utility you can download and run. Sounds like a file table error and should be fixable provided there isn't a physical issue with the drive.

There are many Partition diagnostic utils out there too, if the drive is okay physically then try that next. Partition Magic for example (although there are many). Running a drive scan from Windows would be a good place to start.

Thanks for your answer. The problem is fixed through a dos command suggested on another blog.
Result: I lost the folder. But thankfully the harddisk is intact.
