Hello I've been interested in making a gaming pc for under 800 dollars or a little bit more like 820-850 and idk what components are compatible. I'm currently looking into buying a 9800 gtx gpu or a gtx 285 gpu and a quad core processor any recommendations for the rest of the computer parts?

Well, the GeForce 9800GTX and GTX 285 are old - you'd be better off with a GTS 250 and HD 5850 respectively, although I don't think you could fit the latter in the budget.

Please use the format, it makes it a lot easier - we don't know which site you are using, whether you want to CrossFireX or SLI, whether you want to overclock, what components you already have which don't need buying etc.

Fill out this form and it'll be a lot easier:

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: (e.g.: this week (the closer the better)) BUDGET RANGE: (e.g.: 600-800) Before / After Rebates

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: (e.g.: Folding@Home, gaming, surfing the internet, watching movies)

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: (e.g.: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS) **Include Power Supply Make & Model If Re-using**

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: (e.g.: newegg.com, ncix.com -- to show us selection & pricing) COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: (e.g.: Grand Fenwick)

PARTS PREFERENCES: by brand or type (e.g.: I would like to use an AMD CPU & Biostar mobo with a 24" LCD and full tower case)

OVERCLOCKING: Yes / No / Maybe SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Yes / No / Maybe

MONITOR RESOLUTION: (e.g.: 1024x768, 1280x1024, 1440x900, 1600x1200, 1680x1050, 1920x1080, 1920x1200)

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: (e.g.: Need to have a window and lots of bling, I would like a quiet PC)

Total = $793.93 without rebates
Total = $752.79 after rebates and shipping

If you don't have a copy of Windows 7, just add $99.99, which will total around $852.78, which is around $2.78 over your max budget.

This doesn't include a DVD drive, but really, they're not expensive.
