Trying to understand UPS

I've been trying to understand what sort of power protection method would be best for my setup, but I'm getting lost in the electrical specs.

Preferably, I'd want to get a UPS as thunderstorms are quite common this time of year.

I'm only planning on connecting my computer and monitor (please tell me if I need to post more info):

Any recommendations? I'd do more research myself, but as I said, I'm having trouble determining whether or not the high price UPS' are what I actually need

What are the rest of your specs, your system only pulls as much as it needs so your PSU wont be pulling 800W most of the time, probably not even at max load.

I might get an external backup drive as well.
