I have

More about deleting middle partition mess letters
  1. Yes, drive letters will change.
  2. any way to prevent htis? no way to lock a letter on a partition other than keep the middle ones?
  3. Use disk management to change the drive letter.
  4. yes, that's clear. but won't windows get back to its chosen settings upon next restart after diskmanagement?
  5. When you use the disk management to manually change a drive letter Windows will not automatically change it.

The trick can be getting everything back the way you want it; it can take some juggling ;)
