Hi

I have a Seagate Barracuda 7200, 500 gb hard drive that was in my old Sky box. I removed it and planned to put it in my pc as an additional drive but its not recognised. The drive is powering up and i can hear/feel it spinning. I tried another drive using the same connections and its ok. Is it dead or is there anything else i can do?

Thanks in advance

If it shows up in bios but not windows then It probably has a Partition that you will need to delete first.
You can try Diskpart(goole it), or a 3rd party disk partitioning software.

If it will NOT show up in bios, probably will not be able to fix.

Elaborate. When you enter the BIOS on startup, can the BIOS see it?

What about Windows?
Right-click 'My Computer' -> Click "Manage" - >Click "Disk Management"

The Disks connected to your computer will be listed and any partitions they have will also be shown. Does the disk show up there?
