Mobo and CPU compatability

Hello,

I am just about to place an order for this combo on newegg.com.

Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H AM3
Athlon II X3 440 Rana

I checked on Gigabyte's site to see if this CPU is compatible and it wasn't listed under the compatible CPU's, but the Athlon II X3 425 is. Does anyone know if there is a compatibility issue with the 440? I am about to order and just want to double check.

Thanks for the help.

More about mobo compatability
  1. I haven't heard anything about a compatibility issue, and there shouldn't be one. The board came out after the CPU, so the BIOS should recognize the CPU.
  2. Hmm if you are getting a discrete GPU i.e not relying on integrated video and do not need Crossfire this is a cheaper alternative

  3. You can also look under the BIOS updates for the board, to see if a BIOS update has been released supporting the CPU you are looking at, if it is a brand new just released processor. Sometimes they don't get the support list updated for a few days after a new BIOS release.
