I am looking to buy a alien ware it comes stock with a gt240m or i can spend 200$ more and get a gtx 260m what will be the major different. how much faster is the 260m

the GTX 260m is quite a bit faster for games and if thats what your going to do with your PC well I guess you will. The GTX 260m is a much better choice for a gaming laptop. But the GT240m will run games no prob. And itll run games nice too. I got a mate with a HD 3650 in his laptop and he runs all games on 1280x800 high settings.

Well i will be playing games like Killing floor and wow. i need to know if it would be stupid to not upgrade it or should i stick with the 240m.

I would still go for GTX 260m if I were you. Its a future proof.

ok i will think about that. but i do need to know can it play far cry 2 and games like that or will it dog out people keep telling me that the gtx260M is =to 9800 gtx is this true or how does it this work lol im used to my desktop that has 2x 4870's in crossife with aftermarket coolers

i need a laptop for school and i will not be home very much anymore i am selling the desktop. and i am buying the laptop i need to know how good the gtx260m is or what it can and cant do.

as you said its as good as a 9800GTX for desktops.

i don't use nvidia usually so what games wont it be able to play smoothly.

it will play all games smooth. 9800GTX is a very good card. Itll run crysis all very high. Dont know about AA and res though.

I suggest ditching that Alienware because all you are paying is for the brand and dell taxes. You could get same specced Asus G51j or G71/72 all come with i7 1.6ghz processor.
