Juts build a new PC for a friend around a phenom 955BE (C3/MBOX). His case is descent air flow, using stock cooler and Artic Silver 5. OC'ed to 3.4 tp match 965.

Room Temp: 26C
Idle: 44C
3D gaming: 50-54C
Full Load: 58-59C

Is this the normal temp for the proc with stock cooling? seems kind of hot. Also I dont Cool n Quite come for this proc. Typically CPUZ will show the cpu down cloak when idle to 800and 1volt, but that doesn't happen to this CPU (running WinXP), and cpu voltage is on auto...

It's within safe limits just remember tmax is 62 for that one.. so you're cutting it a little bit close

PS: 955 stock cooler is lol, get a decent aftermarket for OC

If you aren't going to overclock, you'll find that the 955BE can be "undervolted" and run perfectly fine at below 1.3 vcore.

I forgot the reason for the undervolt = if you only have the stock cooler, undervovlting helps slightly to keep it cooler than on AUTO settings.

I just might undervolt it that, ohh and why does my CPU never drop to 1volt during idle time with CnQ? My Ahtlon II does it all the time...

62*C is Tcase max, not TJmax. TJmax is somewhere over 100*C, I'm unsure the actual temperature. The CPU will start throttling itself down around there anyway so you are safe unless you overclock, in which case, the TJmax temperature decreases. This is why you want to keep your CPU nice and cool if you are overclocking.

Tcase VS TJ?

Ya no clue what those are...
