Microsoft fix for missing control panel icon in winxp

Hello, until a few days ago, before I upgraded to service pack 3 I had all of the control panel icons do my problem is not service pack 3. I'm running WInXP home edition. Now I appear to have no sound access , I have no mixer panel also am unable to check mute on or off audio and midi functions. <MyMutimedia Icon is missing and I cannot put it back (I',ve tried loads of different things but nothing works. I really need some help on this one as I'm pulling what little hair I have left out

Re-install the sound driver for your specific PC or laptop model. It will be on the PC or laptop maker's website, in the "Support" or "Downloads" area.
