Windows 7 Taking Up Space

Hello,
I did a clean install of Windows 7 on my 30 gb SSD. When I was done, there was about 14-15 gb left on the drive. After installing drivers, I had about 12 gb left. Then I used Windows Update and installed all the important updates. After all the updates, I had only 4-5 gb left. Is this supposed to happen? Why is it taking up so much space? Is there any way I can free up space on there?

What are your system specs? RAM? Check your page file size?

By default, before the windows updates install, it creates a restore point. You can disable system restore.

Yep its pretty normal. Not counting my programs, I have a 64 GB SSD, and after installing drivers and windows updates, I was left with about 30 GB. After installing the programs and games I wanted on the SSD, I was left with 10.6 GB. Like others have said, there might be some stuff you can disable like indexing and system restore. What SSD did you get?

-500 gb hdd (i put programs and user folder in here)

I only have one restore point on my system.

Again, completely normal. All my user folders and about 25 GB of programs are on a 500 GB HDD for me as well. My Windows folder alone is 20 GB.
