WHEN I START MY COMPUTER, THERE IS A WINDOW THAT KEEPS ASKING ME TO INSTALL DRIVER PERFORMER. I LOOKED AT ALL PROGRAMS ON THE ADD/REMOVE LIST IN CONTROL PANEL BUT COULDN'T FIND DRIVER PERFORMER.
HOW DO I GET RID OF THE QUESTION TO INSTALL A PROGRAM I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT NOR IS LOCATED IN THE LIST OF MY CURRENT PROGRAMS?
it's "drive by" malware which is "pushed" to your PC through your internet connection. Do not install it under any circumstances. You need to install better firewall software which will block potentially harmful intrusions like that.
The firewall built in to XP is better than no firewall at all, but it's not adequate for full protection these days with malware lurking everywhere on the 'net.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE INFO. I AM IMPRESSED. NOTICED ON START UP THAT I NOW GET A MESSAGE THAT MY FIREWALL IS TURNED OFF BUT AFTER A FEW MOMENTS THE MESSAGE VANISHES. WHEN I CLICK ON THE SECURITY ICON IT SAYS THE FIREWALL IS TURNED ON.
I THINK YOU'RE RIGHT ABOUT THE FIREWALL IN WINDOWS XP NOT BEING STRONG ENOUGH.
