Hello,
I am trying to install this drive as a second internal drive. I am using a VIA VT6421 controller to adapt the drive. The controller will load ok until I connect the SATA drive--then I get an error message stating "This device cannot start (Code 10)". The computer is standard from the factory with (I believe) the latest BIOS -- A05....Any help would be appreciated.

According to VIA that controller seems to only have SATA 1 compatibility.

You will probably have to make the drive run at SATA 1 speeds. This is typically done by setting a jumper at the back of the drive or by using some utility software.

Do you think that a controller exists that I could use instead of the VIA6421?

Well yeah you could pick up a pci or pci-e card with SATA ports but you may just need to get the drive to run in SATA 1 mode.
