Hi all
Searching I've found lots of queries on best suggested video card upgrade for the Dell 530 but many posts are fairly old and the suggested cards are no longer available.

I was given this Dell 530 Q6600 quad core and it only has the integrated graphics so obviously I would like everyone's input on what the best graphics card available today is.

I understand the PSU is a concern so suggestions utilizing the slightly larger standard quad core PSU as well as suggestions for a card and upgrade PSU would be great.

I quickly confuse myself when I start looking at the cards so I thought if anyone would take their time to give me a hand I would really appreciate it.

Here's a few specs, not sure what might be needed

Running Win7 64 bit Home Premium

Your model lists the following for the power supply:
300 W
350 W (for computers with Intel® Core™ 2 Quad processor)

I will assume you have the 350w since you have a Q6600. You should be able to run a 5670 video card in your system as it is. Anything further would most likely involve a power supply upgrade.

What is your budget? And what are you intending to use the graphics card for? Games, etc. What resolution is your display as well?

Thanks for the quick reply. Gaming is my main intent as that should cover anything else I need to do.
I have several displays, I think the one hooked up to this is a Dell 2208W (I think)

Thanks
Greg

The 5770 is the mainstream card right now to get. It should run most games pretty well. Here are 2 combo's I found on Newegg that will save you a few bucks.

Thanks Jay
I installed the HD5670 card, dropped right in, no need of any power connections, system recognized it and it works great
Can max out a game I play now with no problems at all, no stutter step anymore!

Thanks, a great low cost suggestion from jay2tall that solved my graphics card update question on my Dell 530!

Hi,

I have a similar question. Looking to upgrade my video card, but have the non-quad version of the Dell Inspiron 530. I assume it has the 300W power supply, so I would upgrade it if I can (seems like lots of people say it's not possible).

I want to play starcraft II at a relatively high level of graphic detail.

The specs from Dell are:
